This flagship Kenya itinerary takes you through the very best the country has to offer. Starting in Nairobi, you will journey north to the Samburu National Reserve before heading south to the world-famous Masai Mara, finishing at the great Rift Valley lakes. Expect extraordinary game viewing at every turn — big cats, elephants, and the endemic species that make Samburu unique.
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. You will be met by your African Citril Safaris guide and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi. Enjoy a welcome dinner and briefing for the journey ahead.
Early morning flight or road transfer to Samburu. Afternoon game drive in Samburu National Reserve, home to the Northern Specials — Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk. Overnight at Samburu camp.
Full day in Samburu with morning and evening game drives. The Ewaso Ng'iro River is a magnet for wildlife — look out for large crocodiles and elephants coming to drink. Optional village visit to a Samburu manyatta in the afternoon.
Transfer south to Lake Nakuru National Park. Famous for its flocks of flamingos and a sanctuary for both black and white rhino, Nakuru offers a very different landscape to Samburu. Afternoon game drive. Overnight at lodge.
Morning game drive at Nakuru then transfer to the Masai Mara. Check in to your tented camp and enjoy an evening game drive across the open savannah. The Mara is home to the highest density of lion in Africa.
Full day in the Masai Mara. Morning and afternoon game drives with a packed lunch enjoyed in the bush. Depending on the season, witness the dramatic river crossings of the Great Migration as millions of wildebeest push north from Tanzania.
Optional early morning hot air balloon safari over the Mara plains, followed by a bush breakfast. Final afternoon game drive before a farewell dinner at camp under the stars.
Morning flight back to Nairobi. Transfer to the airport for your international departure, or extend your stay with a beach add-on on the Kenyan coast.
